Know, empty, know, empty — a breathing meditation of four digits. 7070 alternates victory and void through two full rounds, producing a Hierophant at home moving between what can be seen and what can only be felt.

look closer

You know that moment at the end of a long meditation session — not the beginning, when you are settling, and not the middle, when your thoughts are still wrestling each other — but the end, when you open your eyes and the room looks different? Sharper. More itself. You did not change the room.

You changed the way you were looking at it.

Now imagine doing that as a breathing exercise. Breathe in: knowing. Breathe out: nothing. Breathe in again: knowing. Breathe out again: nothing. Two complete rounds. Four beats.

And when you stand up from the cushion and walk into the world, you carry both — the knowing and the nothing — and they have stopped being opposites.

That is 7070. A breathing meditation encoded in four digits.

What 7070 means for you specifically depends on which of the 11 Life Paths you’re on. Your birthday determines that.

The First Inhale: Sacred Knowledge

Seven is the sacred number.

Balliett called it "a closed number — like a person carrying a pack on their back," someone who "remains partially a mystery even to those who love them." The Pythagoreans dedicated it to Pallas, the virgin goddess of wisdom, because 7 neither generates nor is generated — it stands alone in the first ten, indivisible, undoubled, complete.

Agrippa devoted more text to 7 than to any other number. "Of various and manifold power," he wrote — the vehicle of human life, the number of the oath, the number of blessedness and rest. Seven planets, seven days, seven stages of human development, seven components of the body in altitude.

Everything that lives moves through seven.

In the tarot, 7 is the Chariot — the figure who holds the reins of two sphinxes pulling in opposite directions and commands both. The spiritual and the material, doubt and conviction, yoked together under a single will.

Seven is 3 + 4: spirit laid over structure, the triangle on the square, heaven reaching down into earth.

When you breathe in at the start of this meditation, you breathe in all of that. The knowing that comes from having done the inner work — the study, the sitting, the long honest look at yourself that most people avoid. Seven does not guess. Seven has been there.

The First Exhale: Releasing Everything

And then the zero.

Zero is not silence the way a pause between sentences is silence. Zero is the field before language existed. The void that preceded form. The womb from which every number emerged and into which every number eventually dissolves.

You breathe out, and the knowing goes with the breath. The charioteer releases the reins. The sphinxes dissolve. The bridge between heaven and earth that 7 built so carefully — gone. What remains is potential without direction, space without content, the vast hum of everything and nothing occupying the same point.

This is the hardest part of any meditation practice: the moment when you stop reaching for the insight and let the silence be silence. Not productive silence. Not the silence that precedes revelation. Just nothing. The exhale that empties you without promising to fill you back up.

Balliett described 7 as "a complete temple standing alone." Zero is what happens when the temple dissolves and you discover that the sacredness was never in the architecture.

second breath different knowing section separator

The Second Breath

If the sequence were 70, it would stop here. One inhale of knowing, one exhale of nothing. A single breath. Valuable, but incomplete — the way a single meditation session can shift your afternoon without transforming your life.

7070 breathes twice.

The second 7 arrives, and you breathe in knowing again. But this time the knowing tastes different. You have just come from the void. You have just been emptied.

And the knowing that fills you on the second inhale is lighter than the first — less certain of its own permanence, more comfortable with the fact that it will be released again in a moment.

This is the knowing of someone who has already lost everything once and rebuilt. The second mastery. The charioteer who picks up the reins already aware that the chariot is temporary. The mystic who opens a book already knowing that the book will close.

Then the second zero. The second exhale. And this time the nothing is different too — familiar instead of frightening, a place you recognize. You have been empty before. You know the void is not the end of anything. It is the pause between breaths. You can rest here.

Two complete rounds. The pattern teaches what a single cycle cannot: that knowing and nothing are not opposites. They are the inhale and exhale of the same breath.

Temperance breathing produces section separator

What the Breathing Produces: Temperance

7 + 0 + 7 + 0 = 14.

In the tarot, 14 is Temperance. A figure stands with one foot on land and one in water, pouring liquid between two cups in a continuous stream that ignores gravity.

The water flows both ways — up and down, in and out — because Temperance has found the rhythm that makes opposites flow into each other.

This is exactly what two rounds of breathing meditation produce. You inhaled knowing and exhaled nothing, twice, and the boundary between the two states dissolved. You are no longer the person who has knowledge and then loses it. You are the person who breathes. The knowing is in the breath.

The nothing is in the breath. They are the same motion, experienced from two different sides.

Temperance is the balance between the sacred and the void — not choosing one over the other, but discovering that they were always the same process.

The mystic who spends years studying (7) and then releases everything she studied (0) and then studies again (7) and releases again (0) eventually stops seeing study and surrender as different activities. They become the systole and diastole of a single heartbeat.

Whether 7070’s shadow side applies to you — and how strongly — depends on your core numbers. Your birthday reveals the first one.

The Shadow Between Breaths

The warning that comes with 7070 hides in the space between knowing and releasing.

Balliett warned that 7 is "liable to surprise with knowledge you didn't know they possessed" — but also that 7 is "inclined to live too much in the past" and "will not try to correct faults; attributes them to inheritance." The sacred number carries a specific danger: the belief that knowing is the same as having arrived.

In 7070, this shadow shows up as spiritual bypassing. The person who has meditated so long that they use their equanimity as a shield.

Who breathes in knowing and breathes out nothing with such practiced calm that they never actually feel the loss — never let the exhale truly empty them, never let the void be uncomfortable, never allow the second breath to be genuinely different from the first.

The shadow of 7070 is the meditator who performs the breathing without doing it. Who has turned the cycle of knowing and releasing into another form of control. Who sits on the cushion and goes through the motions of surrender while holding tightly to the identity of being someone who surrenders.

Real Temperance — the kind that earns you the walk into freedom — requires that each exhale actually costs you something. That you actually let the knowing go, even though you worked hard for it. That the void actually touches you, even though you have been there before.

Hierophant meditator stands up section separator

The Meditator Stands Up: Freedom at 5

1 + 4 = 5.

Agrippa called 5 "the just middle of the universal number" and "the Seal of the Holy Ghost, a bond that binds all things." Balliett described 5 as the one who "begins the new cycle of mind" and "finds itself in high unexplored country with paths in all directions."

Five is freedom — the specific kind that comes from having been through the breathing cycle enough times that you no longer need the cushion. The meditator stands up. Walks into the world. Traffic, weather, conversation, the texture of an ordinary afternoon.

And carries both the knowing and the nothing with her, alternating with every step, the way you move through air without needing to notice.

In the tarot, 5 is the Hierophant — from the Greek hieros (sacred) and phainein (to show). The Hierophant walks out of the temple and makes the ordinary world sacred by the way she moves through it. That is what 7070 reduces to.

The freedom of someone who no longer splits the world into the sacred and the mundane. She carries Temperance in her body. She is the bridge between the two states, walking.

where meditation happens in life section separator

Where This Meditation Happens in a Life

You have probably already done both breaths if this number is showing up. The period of deep knowing — and the void that followed. And then it happened again. A second clarity, a second dissolution.

In work, this looks like the person who mastered a field, left it (or watched it leave them), mastered something else, and watched the ground shift again. Two rounds of building expertise and releasing it. The people around you might call this instability. 7070 calls it breathing.

In relationships, the pattern produces people who love without clinging. They have learned — twice — that holding tightly does not prevent loss, and that loss does not prevent the next love from arriving.

That double knowledge, gained only through living it, is what gives them the open-handed quality others find both attractive and slightly unnerving.

Frequently Asked Questions About Angel Number 7070

What does angel number 7070 mean?

7070 is a breathing meditation in four digits: knowing (7), nothing (0), knowing (7), nothing (0). Two complete cycles of sacred understanding followed by total release. The sum is 14, which is Temperance — the balance between opposites — and reduces to 5, which is freedom.

The whole sequence describes the journey from oscillating between mastery and emptiness to walking freely in the world carrying both.

Why does 7070 reduce to 5 and not stay at 14?

14 is the midpoint — Temperance, the blending of knowing and nothing into a single flow. But Temperance is still a process, still a practice. When 14 reduces to 5, the practice becomes a state of being. You stop needing the meditation cushion because the breathing has become automatic.

Five is what happens when the balance between sacred and void becomes so natural that you carry it everywhere without effort.

What does 7070 mean for relationships?

You have probably loved deeply and lost completely at least twice. The first loss taught you that attachment does not prevent endings. The second loss taught you that endings do not prevent new beginnings.

Together, those two lessons produce the open-handed love that 7070 embodies — the willingness to be fully present in a relationship without needing to grip it. Partners often find this quality both beautiful and slightly unsettling, because it comes from a place most people have not been to twice.

Is seeing 7070 a warning about loss?

No. If you are seeing 7070, the losses have likely already happened. Both of them. The number is not predicting a void — it is describing what the voids you already survived have produced. You are standing up from the cushion. The meditation worked.

The question now is whether you will carry the breathing with you into the rest of your life, or whether you will sit back down and keep rehearsing a lesson you have already learned.

Walking Out of the Temple

The breathing is done. Both rounds. You inhaled the knowing — the deep, Chariot-pulled, sphinx-commanding knowing that 7 carries — and you exhaled it into the void. Twice.

And what Temperance mixed from those four beats is something you cannot unfeel: the quiet confidence that comes from having been full and empty enough times to stop being afraid of either.

You are the meditator who stands up now. The cushion stays behind. The room stays behind. The controlled conditions of the practice stay behind. And you walk out into the ordinary, chaotic, unpredictable world carrying both the sacred and the nothing in the same pair of lungs.

That is 7070. The breathing that became the breather. The meditation that graduated into a life.
