Advanced Numerology: The Dynamic Alphabet (Part 3)

These posts are long for a reason. They were put together to help you learn to associate the Letters with the Numbers. They also teach the number of years each letter is active when counting the various name cycles.

It’s much easier to learn letter conversion this way than to count A..B..C etc.

I’ve found students remember the letters in groups 1 and 6 most easily. Each group of 9 (or 8 in the last case) starts with a letter in group one. And group 6 is F,O,X, the easiest mnemonic phrase to remember.

Due to the Summary at the end, this is going to be a long post, so let’s get started!

 The 7 Group: G, P, Y “Grow Plants Yearly”

G looks like an open mouth with a finger signaling a secret, or making a “gag me” sign. Both point to something you really don’t want to reveal. The first is information you may be under a “gag order” to protect. The second is a feeling you don’t want to express out loud.

A G person holds back many things from their social, outgoing side. Almost all G people know how to use the power of silence.

G’s usually signal an analytical mind. G people almost always think things through before speaking - another meaning of the finger brought to the lip. They also need to avoid becoming evasive or manipulative under stress.

If G is your Cornerstone or Minor Key, be straightforward most of the time. Save the power of surprise, which you use well, for the 7-Year transit of this letter or at least a Personal Day 7.

You’ll be surprised how quickly the magic happens if you unexpectedly “go for it” on a day like this. Don’t be held back by suspicion or doubt. Important changes may be happening “behind the scenes” now.

During a G cycle, you can also reap the benefits of hidden things coming to light, for good or ill. After your 16^th birthday, act in a logical and analytical manner. Its Transit can then mean financial gain, stability and inner growth.

Two G’s in a row make for a 14-year extended period of mysteries and secrets revealed. It is not a good time to try to hide your own activities.

Multiple G’s in different places within your name bring many incidents where you must be quite guarded about your own affairs. Even so, things are likely to work out in a good way.

P appears to be a little top-heavy, and sometimes it is. This letter-vibration values precision. It propels the desire to do things in a “proper”, or at least appropriate, way.

It gives one a pensive nature. But it is a closed-top letter, so when you pronounce your profound judgments, you may find it hard to sound “polite.”

This letter can be possessive, mostly about your ideas and plans for progress. Your “intellectual property” is valuable to you.

As pragmatic and practical as this letter can be, people with P as their Cornerstone or Minor Key should let intuition take the lead. Their instincts or gut feelings can “ping” the powers within them. The plans and ideas revealed can make it look like they’ve had a psychic vision of the future. This is strongest during the 7-year Transit period of P.

P also gives a mind quick to analyze the “signs” around it. Following them can release the inner powers of prosperity and healing within us all.

One thing is certain: P lays a good deal of emphasis on privacy and secrecy. This is especially true when its Transit occurs after the 16^th birthday. Major changes in the lifestyle are most likely to manifest early in the 4^th year of this Transit.

Its transit is a perfect time for progressively accumulating the personal power you need to move forward. Two P’s in a row can distribute these events over that 14-year extended period.

If there are several P’s scattered about different parts of the name, you’ll have many peak experiences. But you’ll know when they are coming.

Y is the fork in the road on the road of life. You can only take one road or the other. It may be difficult to see where either of them leads.

Most people with a prominent Y in their charts notice this effect around important decisions about where they are headed in life. It is strongest when they expect something they have yearned for at the end of the road.

The saving grace of this letter is that it gives very reliable intuitive insights. The decision you make will usually take you to a reward for your efforts, no matter how challenging those efforts may be. It may also be your guardian angel.

The famous baseball player, comedian, and philosopher Yogi Berra (notice the Y cornerstone) once said: “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

You will usually only end up in trouble by ignoring the inner signals that say “this might not be the right way to go.” For any Y person, or during its transit, guide the intuitive power by staying focused on your goals.

To quote Yogi again: “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” During its 7-Year Transit, expect a change in your lifestyle, especially after the age of 16.

You may be somewhat indecisive at these times. But even if you take “the road less traveled”, the experience will be tremendously enriching. Learn to have faith in your intuition. Trust it, and whatever path you choose will be rewarding.

As with the other letters, 2 Y’s in a row mean a 14-year period. When Y’s are found in different places among your names, these cycles of crucial decisions are likely to come unexpectedly.

The 8 Group: H, Q, Z “Hilarious Quacking Zebras”

H looks like a ladder, with two rails and a rung between them. The rung is where you put your feet and hands so you can rise or descend.

It is sometimes thought of as a sign of extremes, because a ladder can carry you up or down. H can also signify any form of healing. It can take you from the depths of illness to the heights of health.

Your heart can be filled with generosity and courage. But your hungers for experience can do a great deal of harm if you hang on to them.

H empowers very strong emotions, which can be problematic. Keep your sense of humor, though, and these emotions can be rather helpful. Use them to enhance the telling of your truth when needed.

H people like helping others. They give guidance, or physically hoist people up so they can “see the top” in some way. At the same time, they hate people who are hollow and only fill up on the ideas and accomplishments of others.

If you’re an H Cornerstone person, you’re probably more concerned with the quality of your efforts than with the “Haul” you might bring in as profit.

This is especially true during its 8-year Transit, when you can expect to move from one extreme to another. This can be an intense and rapid movement in your career or other efforts to achieve prosperity.

Your choices will always be your key to happiness, especially after your 17^th birthday. Focus your attention on financial matters at this time. Avoid guesswork and take your ladder one rung at a time.

Act honorably and hold on to your emotions. You can be sure that you’ll make it to the top. Maybe you’ll be able to hoist others up with you.

If one H follows another, this means a long 16-year period. During it, an entire career or other accomplishment can be made or broken. With several H’s scattered through your names, these chances come around often. You can make it to the top or “get to the bottom of things.”

Q looks something like the human brain and its stem. As a Cornerstone or Minor Key, it gives a talent for quick thinking. Q people have a unique way of expressing themselves and their unusual ideas.

Q also gifts its bearers with an original, humorous and sometimes unreasonable nature. This makes for an unusual, captivating charm that others appreciate.

This letter is known to involve people who have it as a Cornerstone or Minor Key in unusual or unexpected events. It is also associated with money, authority and power.

It also gives a quirky nature that forces others to take strong opinions about the Q person. If Q is your Cornerstone, you’re not likely to find people who are indifferent to you.

Your likable character will be an asset if you remain objective and cultivate your intuition, especially while its 8-year Transit is active.

During this Transit, even if Q is not a main player in your name, you will probably focus on improving your financial, social or academic status. Attend to your reputation, your expressiveness or your integrity. That will make this period easy and filled with progress.

You may have strange experiences or encounter highly improbable turns of fate. Some may be troublesome and some may not. Either way, the 8-year period of Q is always memorable and often makes for great stories.

All matters concerning wellness are favored during this transit. Having 2 Q’s in a row is extremely rare. If one exists, it would mean a 16 year period of unusual experiences and events.

When Q’s are spread throughout the names, the various Q periods may be important for wealth. It depends on the other letters active during each energy phase.

Z is a very communicative letter vibration. It can come across like the zap of a lightning bolt, even during the small talk of a café or casual conversation. Z makes for the “Buzz” about people, places and things.

In geometry, Z is sometimes used to signify the depth of a 3-dimensional object. More commonly, it gives you the ability to “zero in” on what’s important and what is not. It’s the key to quickly analyzing situations and taking control, even if you’ve approached them in a zig-zag fashion.

Your sense of humor is strong and your nature direct. Be cautious in your speech, though. Your words may have more “depth” than you realize.

Z appears as an “N” turned sideways and is open to the past and the future. It is an opportunistic letter that moves fast, with words like zoom and zephyr to its credit.

A quick grasp of important matters is often the secret of prosperity for those with this letter prominent. So is the ability to separate “signal from noise.”

Its 8-year Transit usually focuses on financial matters and accomplishments, especially after the 17^th birthday. Don’t be too zealous in the pursuit of your self-interest. You could easily develop the habit of being manipulative.

In short, be cautious about your actions and this period can mark material, personal and social progress. Two Z’s in a row is very rare in a name. The 16 years of that transit would seem to go by very quickly for that person.

Multiple Z’s scattered around the names seem to create a zig-zag pattern in the life. During their periods, moving backward is sometimes necessary to move forward.

The 9 Group: I, R “Irritating Ravens”

I gives its bearers the ability to take full advantage of instinct, intuition and insight in a productive, practical way. Like a flagpole without a flag, or a rocket on the launchpad, it is 100% upright in its appearance. It does not reveal its purpose.

It is the symbol of identity and integrity. It reveals a person who has no problem standing up for themselves. If I is your Cornerstone, First Vowel or Minor Key, never ignore your feelings. The instant they present themselves, they are probably telling you something you need to know.

It can mean illumination or ignorance, intellect or idiocy, insight or illusion - all depending on your mood and pride. So don’t get involved with talking about things you don’t know. And don’t carelessly substitute guesswork for reason.

During its 9-year Transit, I can open the door to mind-expanding experiences. Make intelligent choices and never lose the inspiration and passion it gives.

For anyone who has I as a key letter, the need to “improve” one’s life or lifestyle is usually a burning passion. Following this desire is a power that can help you, even in the most immediate situations - unless you focus only on material goals.

The 5^th year of the Transit has an “Instant Karma” effect. It may produce problems due to impatience, hastiness or illusory expectations.

Cultivate your intuition during these nine years and you can expect hard-won but lasting success for your efforts. If one I follows immediately after another, it can mean a period of 18 years. During it, great things can be achieved.

Several I’s in different places in your names give you the chance to be at the top of your game many different times in your life. This is especially true if I is your First Vowel.

R has a closed top half. This shows that you respect the privacy and individuality of others as well as your own.

Even though R people are able to retain secrets, they tend to be outgoing, social and occasionally rowdy. This letter looks like someone stepping forward, so it is usually thought of as future-oriented.

It carries an optimistic, loyal and forgiving quality. That quality helps its bearers keep moving forward despite hindrances, especially when R acts as the Cornerstone or Minor Key in the name.

Most people become optimistic from time to time. But R has a quality of optimism that seems to renew itself regularly, even in very difficult circumstances.

Others may find you curious or mysterious in some way. Despite your love of privacy, you might occasionally enjoy revealing exactly who you are. The interest they show is likely due to your wide range of experience in life.

There may be times when you become rebellious or filled with rage, especially during its 9-year Transit. You may be ready for a new start (reboot) or seek opportunities to re-invent yourself. But you’ll need to let go of old baggage before taking action.

Revisiting old issues to learn their lessons will be important during the 5^th year of this period. Only then can you move forward.

Those lessons will reveal themselves easily if the 5^th year of the transit coincides with a Personal Year 9. Two R’s in a row (in the same name) make this an 18-year cycle. During it you can totally remake your life, rebuild something that has been lost or start a revolution.

If R’s are scattered about in different places or parts of your name, the readiness to let go of the past and move forward will be your driving force. It returns on a regular schedule in your life.

Dynamic Personal Alphabet Summary

So now we’ve completed some interesting suggestions for how a student of Numerology can interpret the letters of the English alphabet. Please understand that there are many different ways to interpret the alphabet.

Those who use the Cyrillic alphabet need to research the Numerological equivalents that work for them. Hebrew, Arabic and Sanskrit already have systems that predate the common English method.

The Greek alphabet works better with the method of Chaldean Numerology. That method probably originated there, or was brought from Mesopotamia by Alexander the Great or scholars of his time.

In Japan and China, many people practicing Number-based name interpretation count the “strokes” used to write characters. Characters that sound the same don’t look the same. Even in European countries, like France or Spain, the slight differences in alphabets can skew the results.

In the Nordic countries you find a lot of names with doubled letters and a more liberal use of consonants. A lot of names with double A’s or K’s show up in this part of the world.

In other words, there is no “one size fits all” method of Numerology, except for charlatans.

 A Few More Tips

As mentioned, the first rule of Numerology is never take the numbers out of context.

For instance, take someone born in 1999. When calculating the LifePath, no reputable person would treat the last two digits as non-reducible just to rant on about master numbers.

Someone having a Z in the middle of a name will not present all the qualities of that letter. That takes an active period of Z in their name cycles. Even then, it will not tell you much unless that letter happens to be a Cornerstone or a Minor Key.

Just don’t do it. Otherwise you’ll quickly be disappointed with Numerology. People will create the doubt in your mind that “it’s wrong, it doesn’t work.”

Never try to calculate the name cycles “on the fly.” The possibility of making an error is far too great. Take your time and review your interpretations over and over. Once you learn to interpret the names efficiently, you’ll realize you only need 2 or 3 letters to do everything that’s needed.

You may remember our old friend the Inclusion Table, sometimes called the Karma Table. Although we have converted all the letters into the numbers, some particularly interesting things can be done with it quickly.

For instance, someone may have only one 3 in their table, and it happens to come from C, their Cornerstone. You have a very clear picture of a potential that may not be utilized. It needs other active cycles that make expressing those Cornerstone qualities easy. But that gets into number harmonies, a subject for the future.

Lastly (at least for the time being), please do not try to memorize the letter descriptions listed above. Try to associate the shapes with the principles of the number they represent.

If you learn by memorizing, focus on the qualities the letter brings out that are atypical of its number. Memorizing the definitions of the letters will only lead to disappointment.

Chances are good that someone with an R Cornerstone will not appreciate being asked if they are ready to overthrow the government. (The keyword revolutionary belongs to R.) And just because a person’s Expression works out to 3, and C is their Cornerstone, do not ask them if they are comedians.

It takes intuition to get the art of letter interpretation right. It also takes looking for reasonable clues in other aspects of the Numerology chart.

Reader Questions

Why does the 9 group only have two letters while all the others have three?

It comes down to simple division. The English alphabet has 26 letters, not 27, so nine even groups are impossible. Groups 1 through 8 each claim three letters, and the two remaining - I and R - land in group 9.

Those two letters still carry the full force of the 9 vibration. Their 9-year transit cycles are the longest of any letters in the system, so they are anything but shortchanged.

How does a letter's shape actually connect to its meaning?

The shape gives you a visual shortcut to the letter's core theme. H looks like a ladder with rungs, so think climbing and extremes - career ups and downs, healing from low to high.

Y is a fork in the road, which is why it shows up around difficult decisions about direction. Z moves in a zigzag, reflecting rapid and sometimes unexpected changes of course.

Once you associate the shape with the principle of its number group, the details become much easier to recall without brute memorization.

Can the Dynamic Alphabet system be applied to names in other languages?

Not directly. The Pythagorean letter-number assignments covered in these posts are built specifically for the 26-letter English alphabet. Hebrew, Arabic, and Sanskrit have their own ancient systems that predate the English method. Greek works better with Chaldean Numerology.

In Japan and China, practitioners often count the strokes used to write characters rather than assigning phonetic values. Some people transliterate a non-English name into Roman letters and apply the Pythagorean grid. Purists argue that important nuances from the original language get lost in the conversion.

What happens when the same letter appears twice in a row within one name?

Two consecutive identical letters double the transit period for that vibration. Two G's in a row, for instance, create a 14-year stretch of mysteries and secrets surfacing - twice the normal 7-year G transit.

That extended period amplifies the letter's themes considerably, so if you are in one, pace yourself. The intensity lasts a long time and trying to rush through it or hide from it usually backfires.
