It isn’t easy being an empath.
Us, sensitive, extra-sensory folk find it difficult to set healthy boundaries and stay rooted in our own energy. We have the (bad) habit of taking on other people’s energy and emotions, and this ‘pollutes’ our own energy and can make us unwell.
Many natural born empaths and intuitives have chronic health problems, like digestive issues, back problems, headaches, low energy, hormonal problems and depression, because they don’t know how to set healthy energetic boundaries.
When you’re an intuitive, you’re naturally empathetic and know how other people are feeling. You can tap into a person’s energy and quickly get a sense of them and what is ailing them.
This is a wonderful gift if you use it right, but when you’re unconsciously tapping into people’s energy and don’t know you’re doing it, you’re ‘overloading’ your energy field. This lowers your immune response and adrenal function, and makes you stressed, tired and drained.
If you want to benefit from your empath and intuitive skills, be able to listen to the voice of your intuition, communicate with your angels and guides and help other people, make sure to set healthy energetic boundaries! And here are three easy ways to do this:
My 3 Top Tips For Empaths
1. Do a regular chakra cleanse meditation.
If you’ve been in my orbit for some time you’ll know this is my top tip. If you want to change your life, you must change your energy, and the most powerful way to do this is to regularly cleanse your chakras.
Most empaths and intuitives have chronically weak chakra 3’s (solar plexus chakras), and this is the reason why they can’t protect their energy.
Your solar plexus chakras is the bodyguard of your entire energy field. If this chakra isn’t working properly, your energy is not being protected and you will pick up other people’s negative thoughts, emotions and feelings.
By doing a regular chakra cleanse you make sure that your solar plexus chakra and all of your other chakras stay cleansed and balanced, so that your energy stays strong and vital.
2. Stay anchored or rooted in your own energy by being mindful of your body.
This I learnt from Eckahrt Tolle, and, along with a regular chakra cleanse, is one of the best ways to protect your energy.
You can stay anchored in your own energy by focusing your attention on your body, and trying, as much as you can, to always have some of your attention focused on an area of your body.
When you are speaking to someone be aware of your hands or feet, and when you’re walking, feel your feet in your shoes, hitting the pavement with every stride.
Or focus on your breathing and the way your chest rises and falls, or the vibration of your own voice in your throat when you sing.
All these things keep you in your body and anchored in your own energy.
3. Take regular retreats. Empaths and intuitives are hermits by nature.
Empaths and intuitives need time-out. We need to regularly withdraw from the world and process our own thoughts and emotions.
Because empaths have the ability to ‘tap into’ other people’s thoughts and feelings, we need to take time-out to make sure we feel the way we do because we’re feeling this way, not because we’re feeling someone else’s feelings!
Life can get very murky and cloudy if we lack clarity around what is our stuff, and what is other people’s stuff. Don’t let this happen to you! Take regular time-outs to stay healthy, clear and vital.
