This is a huge deal, people.

Jupiter, the biggest planet in our solar system, and symbol of luck, growth, and expansion, is switching signs just before the end of the year, in early December.

After 13 long months cruising through free-spirited home sign of Sagittarius, it’s time for the Lord of luck to say his goodbyes and set sail into neighboring Capricorn.

Dates: When does Jupiter Enter Capricorn?

  • Jupiter transits into Capricorn (exiting Sagittarius) on December 2nd (or 3rd) 2019
  • Jupiter transits into Aquarius (exiting Capricorn) on December 19th, 2020

Capricorn: the sign of SO much action this year

With planets Saturn and Pluto leading an ongoing, merry dance through the mid-degrees of the sign of the mountain goat, 2019 has been all about power and authority. As quickly as the cracks have been appearing in the grip of the patriarchy, the fist has been tightening in other areas. And on a personal level, we’ve all been unrelentingly facing our demons and stripping back the layers of our own conditioning.

When planets move through Capricorn, they mean business.

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the Zodiac. It teaches us about boundaries, limitations, and discipline. It understands that rewards come with hard work, structure and practical application. This is officialdom, governance, and playing by the rules. It is stoic, persistent and devoted.

What’s the Deal With Jupiter?

Well, Jupiter transits have a largely positive influence on our lives. Jupiter is the king of the Gods, and in Astrology, the Zodiac’s planet of luck and positivity, opportunities, travel, and of course, expansion.

Jupiter symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, and higher learning. So it’s no surprise that it’s human-formed pioneers – Sagittarians – are life’s explorers. These adventurous folks thrive when pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers. Not only because wherever the giant planet’s involved, the horizon stretches as far as the eye can see, becoming ever more inviting and more full of opportunities, but because Jupiter always ensures that you fall on the right side of fortune.

For 13 months, Jupiter has been transiting its home sign of Sagittarius, and we’ve all been encouraged to expand what we know, believe, and think is possible. Think about it: all those places where you put yourself out on a limb…. Good things came to pass, didn’t they? That’s Jupiter in Sagittarius through and through!

Yet now, as we sit on the cusp of a new Jupiter transit, this flowering of fortune is not exactly about to stop, as much as morph into something a little different…

So what should we expect when larger-than-life Jupiter enters the Capricornian realms?

Expansion is still on the cards.

But in the firm embrace of Capricorn, that expansion is going to require strong foundations, a good deal of planning, a framework of discipline and some hefty goals to set your sights on.

Whether or not your personal Horoscope has planets or points in this cardinal earth sign, this is a planetary transit that will affect you. It will affect everything.

Here are 21 Ways to Maximise on its potential (and yours!)

1. Take Responsibility!

Yes – drop out of the blame game once and for all.

Capricorn energy wants you to realize that it’s within your power to be and do whatever you want most! But first things first, you’ve got to shake off that victim mentality. Taking responsibility for where you are now, will help

2. Set Goals (and put them where you can see them!)

It seems obvious enough, but how often do you actually do this?

Think about it, and get those dreams out of your head and into the world… first in the form of words.

Sit down with a piece of paper and a pen (preferably a huge piece of paper and a thick black sharpie) and write it down in plain sight. Then stick it up somewhere prominent.

Fellow Earth signs Taurus and Virgo will be set to benefit most from this astrology – you already have this grounded earth energy to draw from. But seriously, whatever your Horoscope, this powerful transit is a goal-setters dream!

3. Be the Realist

Set goals. Aim high. But do it in reachable, realistic, steps you can actually achieve.

So, maybe you can’t already be that Instagram influencer with a million followers. But you can make a posting schedule, tighten up your brand, take a course in photography…

Bite. Size. Chunks.

4. Respect Your Resources

Capricorn is the king of resources. So whilst Jupiter sails his way through this most conscious and orderly of signs, make you’re using yours to their optimum. That means:

  • Planning properly
  • Buying/storing/cataloging/maintaining what you have
  • Optimizing – getting the very best out of your resources
  • Sharing with others – pooling resources where you can

5. Plug Your Energy Gaps

How efficient are you?

This isn’t a test. Being efficient isn’t about working super-fast with no time for breaks. On the contrary, efficiency means that you have way more spare time to play with (and with Jupiter here and ready to fill it with good fortune, you’d be a fool not to give efficiency a try!)

But what does it mean for this astrology?

It means treating your own time, energy, attention and intention as valuable resources too (see above point). Optimize yourself.

6. Calculate your risks.

This transit isn’t telling you you shouldn’t be taking risks (though you’ll probably feel a lot less like taking them than you did over the last 13 months). But this astrology will likely work a whole lot better for you, when you calculate. Plan. Work out the variables. Troubleshoot before you hit the trouble.

(Aries horoscope? This kind of spontaneity-averse planning isn’t in your nature, but trust us this year – looking before you leap will really reap rewards for you)

7. Strategy

And whilst you’re at it, get your strategy on! Long term, short term, the energy of this ride will respond when you have a game plan!

8. Fill Out Your Whole Years Calendar Now!

… and one of the best ways to play the game, even when you have no real idea of how to actually get where you want?

Grab your calendar and start plugging in dates. Trips. Appointments. Interviews. Deadlines. Launches. Whatever hoops you need to jump through.

Sure, at this stage, you’re making them up as you go along, but this could be the first step in actually making your goals concrete. So whilst you’re not actually, officially booked onto that mastermind in Italy in July 2020, if you’ve already blocked out the space in your calendar, well, it’s more likely to manifest into it, right?!

9. Work Out Your “Whys”

Jupiter is the ruler of moral values, wisdom, and higher-level thinking. Here in Capricorn, these are at the forefront of manifested action – so before your nose hits the grindstone, work out WHY you’re working so hard.

  • What do you believe is important?
  • What are your personal ethics?
  • What is your time really worth?

10. Act in Integrity

And whilst you’re figuring all that out, get to work aligning your actions with your values.

  • Are your efforts really serving who and/or what you want them to?
  • Are your goals aligned with your truth?

If anything doesn’t add up, it’ll knock you off that top spot you’re heading for.

11. Beware the Shadows

As Jupiter is in its “fall” here in Capricorn (meaning it’s harder for it to express in its highest and most progressive way) the shadow aspects of this sign may be expanded by Jupiter’s placement here. What are Capricorn’s shadows?

  • Rigidity
  • Being overly critical
  • Seriousness
  • Holding a grudge
  • Being paranoid, or suspicious of others

So… So watch out for this. And recognize these traits if they start to creep into your personality…

12. Avoid hoarding

As a material-focused sign, the expansion that Jupiter offers could result in self-serving behavior… so share the love!

13. Keep the Big Picture in mind

Jupiter is great at giving you a higher perspective. And Cappy is headed straight for the top – so this is a great time to avoid getting wrapped up in the pesky details and aim BIG

… BUT on the other hand:

14. Don’t skip over the finer details

Jupiter here could expand your perspective too wide, too quickly, meaning that you fail to notice all the specifics.

15. Look for Opportunities

Jupiter in Capricorn is an opportunistic transit. Keep your eyes open wide for openings where you could offer your skills, make a little money, recycle an object, idea or piece of work.

16. Use Jupiter’s Retrograde to Course Correct

With a five-month-long retrograde on the cards (Jupiter will station retrograde on May 14, 2020, stationing direct again on September 13) there will be ample opportunity this year to dive within, and hone your efforts. Use it.

 17. Lean into Your Partnerships

Other people can also be a resource (see number 4) but they’re also here to share your journey to the top! Yes, in Capricorn, Jupiter is in its fall (astrologically speaking) yet this means it is opposing the sign of its exaltation – Cancer. This opposition encourages pairing, cooperation, and the formation of alliances. Lean into the people around you. Not because they can benefit you in some way, but because this is how humanity will evolve. Together.

18. Reaffirm Relationships

This 13-month-long Cancer opposition is also offering us a really beautiful opportunity to strengthen and deepen significant relationships. Cancer is the most emotional of signs, and whilst Cappy most definitely is not, their axis contains the whole spectrum of what it takes for people to couple up. The emotional intimacy (Cancer) and the structured officialdom of unity that day-to-day life requires. So you may find this Jupiter transit asking to re-affirm your commitment to married life or long term relationships

19. Challenge authority

Jupiter in Capricorn gives an astrology that could cause our leaders to, ahem, feel like their own power is expanded beyond what’s real. As a sign of patriarchal power, Capricorn symbolizes governance, hierarchical structures, and the “bones” of our societies. Jupiter is also symbolic of law-making, religion and ruling thought. So add these together, and there’s potential for some seriously inflated egos in the public sphere. Don’t take this at face value.

20. Be Ready for the Deep Dives x3

Pluto will move conjunct to Jupiter three times in 2020. Here are the dates:

  • April 4th at 24º of Cap
  • June 29 at 24º of Cap (Both Jupiter and Pluto moving retrograde)
  • Nov 12 at 22 º of Cap

On these days, the dive will be deep, as Jupiter will enhance the transformational power of Pluto, amplifying all of the work that’s already happening within the folds of Capricorn this year. Work with these conjunctions – don’t let them take you by surprise.

21. Take Care of Your BONES!

We’ve said this before when Capricorn is being activated – as the Zodiac sign that rules teeth, bones, joints, and the skeletal system overall, any weaknesses here, in these parts of the body will likely be highlighted. Which is great news – it means you’ll have the opportunity to treat it.

This Jupiter transit also encourages an overall focus on the well-being of your bones, by pre-empting any problems with the right nutrition, supplements, movement, and exercise. Plenty of Vitamin D (hello Sunshine!), plus minerals such as Vit K, calcium, potassium, and magnesium are all essential for bone health – are you getting enough?

Now… tell us how you’re feeling about this astrological transit!

What are your plans for the next 13 months? How will you use Jupiter’s expansive power to super-charge your life?
