Many moons ago when you were a child, it may have been easy to live as a witch. You spoke to your animal friends, the fairies, the stars and most adults thought nothing of it. You played and laughed, swimming with the mermaids, and whales in your pool or in the ocean.
Perhaps you had beloved books to read such as the Half Magic series by Edward Eager; Zilpha Keatley Snyder books; The Peculiar Miss Pickett by Nancy R. Julian; the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull; the Fairyopolis and Dragonology books; Gnomes by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet; books by Gail Carson Levine; Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones; The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien; Child of Faerie, Child of Earth by Jane Yolen and Jane Dyer; The Underland Chronicles by Suzannne Collins; books by Madeline L’Engle and of course our beloved Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
Childhood Reading & A Love Of Magic
Reading gave me the ability to immerse myself in worlds that I understood. I had a visceral loving reaction to the love and spiritual information found in these books. I often dressed as an adorable witch for Halloween and Sabrina fascinated me. I was called to it all.
As a young child, I was also drawn to spirituality and religion; I loved religious ritual and spiritual seeking. My love of reading, spirituality and magic was not well received, but as a child, I was given the gift of play. My siblings and I often created many magical worlds. Unfortunately the time of dress up, delight and wonder was eventually extinguished.
I found my way back and it’s brilliant that you are here too. Whether you’ve been living a magical life since birth or have brought a little more magic into your world along the way, there are some simple and powerful daily deeds we can implement to help us live a more magickal life.
FIVE DAILY DEEDS FOR LIVING A MAGICKAL LIFE
1. Expressions of gratitude
Gratitude keeps us in magical flow. We are able to give and receive blessings when our hearts are in constant gratitude. Keeping our mind focused on what we’re grateful for raises our energy and power.
2. Listen and see the signs from other realms
Ask the universe for guidance and assistance on a matter. Be open to the response. I’ve had answers come in the form of a song through the exact lyrics I needed. A few times a bus drove by and the advertisement on the side was the exact direction I needed. Perhaps a random person will say the insightful words you needed to hear. This really brings magic into one’s day.
3. Almost daily I pull an oracle card in the morning and the evening
Oracle cards are a lovely way to get information from your inner world and other realms. The divine is present in all things, this is another way to have a connection with all that is.
4. Talk with the moon
When you’re out at night, make a point of noticing her in all her glory. One of the most amazing gifts we are given is the beauty of the night sky with the moon’s glow. Deepen your relationship with lunar energy by honoring the moon.
5. When you’re out and about notice nature and give thanks for what is before you.
Perhaps you see a squirrel or a spider. Maybe it’s a little patch of grass, weeds or a green bush at the mall. Whatever small detail you encounter recognize it, and acknowledge it. All of nature is conspiring to help all of life thrive.
There is an abundance of goodness, magic and delight before us. These gifts are given to us to add pleasure and goodness to our lives. May your toes be tickled and your heart be open to the blessings of love.
