A psychic scam is very easy to recognize because it follows a predictable pattern and goes something like this:
1. You Feel Vulnerable
You’re feeling vulnerable and worried after having a traumatic experience and decide to visit a psychic to get insight into your life. You’re looking for comfort and validation. The psychic you choose might be online, or maybe they have a storefront in a physical location.
2. You have “Dark Energy”
If the psychic has genuine psychic ability, they might wow you with their accuracy in the first few minutes. Then, noticing that you are distraught and feeling vulnerable, they tell you that you have “dark energy” around you, and/or someone has put a curse on you. This can be a very scary thing to hear someone say, especially when they’ve proven their psychic ability to you moments before. Now you’re in fear.
3. Nothing Good Will Happen Unless…
Next, they tell you that nothing good will ever happen in your life, and none of your dreams will ever come true unless you pay them to remove the dark energy or curse. Removing the curse usually costs several hundred dollars.
4. You Pay
If you pay them, the scam escalates. At your follow-up visit, they’ll tell you they’ve removed the curse, but now they’re seeing that your chakras are out of alignment, and they can re-align them for you for even more money, usually $1,000.
How To Protect Yourself Against Psychic Frauds
Here’s how you can protect yourself. This is a fairly well-known and repeated scam, so as soon as you hear the words, “You have dark energy” or “someone has put a curse on you,” stop the reading and walk away.
It’s not that curses don’t exist; they do. But chances are, you don’t have any dark energy or a curse on you at all. They’re telling you a story to frighten you and get you to pay them.
Even if you DID have a curse on you, you are more powerful than any negativity or curse. You can remove that yourself, without paying hundreds of dollars.
