Here we are, it is August!
Here is a Tarot and Oracle reading to offer insights on how to navigate the month ahead…
- Three of Swords/Sorrow
- 4 of Wands/Completion
- King of Cups
The keywords for the month are Shadow Work, Transformation, Power and Courage.
Three of Swords: Go into the Darkness
The Three of Swords’s message is to “go into the darkness”. It advises that instead of avoiding or running away from any pain or sorrow you may be experiencing or holding inside, face it. Be present with it. Look at it. This does not mean to wallow in these feelings, but rather to practice presence with them.
Also, this card indicates that we are advised to do shadow work; to claim the parts of ourselves that we have been disowning and disapproving of. The image of this card shows broken shards of a mirror, which represents the fragments of ourselves and our reflection that we do not accept. Our message is to integrate these aspects of ourselves, to see the beauty of the qualities that have been pushed into the shadows and to therefore come into wholeness once again.
Four of Wands: Have Courage
The Four of Wands’s message is to have courage. Courage is needed to do this difficult work we are called to do, of looking at our emotions and parts of ourselves we may want to avoid. This card is also called “completion”, and this indicates the wholeness we are asked to come into, doing this inner work.
King of Cups: Emotional Exploration
The King of Cups also signifies looking at the hidden depths of our emotions and selves. It also indicates a transformation that may come with this process, as well as a coming into personal power.
From “The Goddess Oracle” deck by Amy Sophia Marashinsky:
Baba Yaga/Wild Woman
The Baba Yaga is our goddess guide for the month, and her message for us is to express and acknowledge our wild selves.
“I walk in the forest
and speak intimately with the animals
I dance barefoot in the rain
without any clothes
I travel on pathways
that I make myself
and in ways that suit me
my instincts are alive and razor sharp
my intuition and sense of smell are keen
I freely express my vitality
my sheer exuberant joyfulness
to please myself
because it is natural
it is what needs to be
I am the wild joyous life force
Come and meet me”
She asks us to embrace the parts of ourselves that society may generally frown upon; the parts of ourselves that we may consider ugly, unpleasant or messy.
It is in our innate wild selves that we can find joy, creativity, our instinct and intuition.
The Baba Yaga is the wise old crone; the wild mother. She may have a fearsome appearance but if she is faced, she offers rich wisdom.
So, whew! Looks like we have quite a powerful month in store! I hope that these insights help.
Crystals for August
If you would like to use crystals this month, I recommend obsidian. Obsidian is a transformational stone that helps to bring up to the surface whatever we may need to face. You may want to use it with rose quartz for gentle, loving support and/or clear quartz for clarity.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful month!
