Sometimes I find myself being swept away in the storm. A little paper boat, carried away by the wind and the rain. In the chaos of the thrashing, torrent waters I feel my spirit call out only to be deafened by anxiety and frustration. As fear builds, I sink deeper into despair, sinking deeper and deeper… Further from the wisdom of my spirit, into the muddy waters of lack and separation.

Basic Human Nature

My experience in these moments is basic human nature. We all feel this heavy weight of unknowing and lack mentality. When things knock us off course we seem to give into the frustration and lose our sense of self, and most notably, our deepest intention to thrive and grow.

The secret lives in the eye of the storm. That gentle feeling of closing your eyes, and moving into the rhythm of the moment. In this place at the center of chaos lives the flow. The flow of life, of abundance and prosperity. One thing always holds true… You can change your reaction, regardless of the nature of your situation.

Learning To Go With The Flow

Swimming in the storm becomes harder when you lose composure, and give into fear. You cannot anticipate what is next, so rather than fighting, flailing around and sinking… Be with it. Hold space for the experience and see where it might take you. Sometimes these trying moments are actually the upheaval of energy pushing you into the next phase, the next chapter of your story.

Reaching into this overwhelming sense of darkness often gifts us with beautiful treasures. Move into the storm of transformation and you will find a new groove. What you initially experience as chaos is usually a wake up call. Your spirit, and the Universe have partnered together to ask the big questions:

  • Do you know what you are intending into life?
  • What are you feeling, vs what are you wanting to feel?
  • How are you taking care of yourself?

I find that when things aren’t working… I am actually moving against my own flow. I am going against the grain. Rather than pushing harder, it becomes easier to sit down and take stock of what is happening, and why. Maybe Spirit is moving you to an easier path. Maybe this isn’t the path to go down at the moment. Or maybe you need to move a little slower, taking in the sights around you.

PinMove Into The Storm

Try not to have tunnel vision in these moments of chaos. Be with the experience, rather than the desired outcome. Be in this moment and see what is bubbling to the surface. These are the gifts of the shadow… Our unacknowledged dark parts where are potential lives.

Make no definitive decisions in this turbulent place because these cracks in your awareness will soon become fertile space for new seeds to grow. The secret of stepping into your personal flow lies in your ability to accept and experience whatever lies before you. Trying, visceral experiences often shake us up to purge away the psychic debris, and challenge us on what we really want, need, intend and believe to be true!

I like to move into the storm. Wrap myself in the water. And compassionately ask:

  • What do I have left to learn here?
  • How can I honor my highest good?

After breathing into the chaos, the darkness… And asking these questions I find myself growing calmer, clearer and more able to move with the storm. The skies begin to brighten, and the world becomes more serene. My uncertainty and anxiety magnified the storm…. Because the Universe is a big mirror.

We psyche ourselves out. A challenge appears and we move into fight or flight. In every situation… Regardless of what the next move might be, find your footing. Take in the atmosphere around you… That is the only way to thrive in these trying times.

Take Time To Breathe

Breathing is healing in these moments. Your breathe connects you to your body, to your spirit, and allows you to be present. Presence is the key to wellness. If you slip out of your body in the face of uncertainty then you lose your grounding, and your ability to communicate with your spirit.

Affirm to yourself: I am here now, in this moment, in this experience, ready for the ride.

The challenge of being in the moment is ever present. Being presents isn’t being idle. More so, it is being aware of what is happening at this moment now. When I feel chaotic I usually allow myself to have a freak out, and then I stop and remind myself that there is something to learn here.

So befriend your darkness. Look at it as a gift. A beautiful call to action to help you become clearer on what you want in your life. Healing lives in the folds of chaos. And never guilt yourself about losing composure, this too is a gift that reminds you of your ever evolving self.

And when you are feeling this sense of confusion and darkness reach out to someone… A friend or a spiritual teacher. When you have another person to partner with on accepting where you are, and figuring out where to best place your power and intention, magic happens. I love helping people look into their energetic story, so they can see the present atmosphere and learn to ride the wave!
