Knowing our Life Path number—and the Life Path number of a potential sex partner—can provide information about our core wants, needs, and propensities in the bedroom.
See if you recognize your basic sexual style as indicated by Life Path number. (PS: If you don’t know what your Life Path number is, head here.)
1 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 1 Life Path, you’re confident, creative, independent, and have a fearless connection with your individuality. In the bedroom, you prefer to take the lead and thrive with a partner who adores you from every angle. While you take pleasure in pleasing your partner, you get enjoyment and satisfaction when bringing skill and creativity into your sexual experiences. You can be a total “rock star” in bed—learning and mastering ways to perfect your performance. As a “creative,” you often have a high sex drive and a vibrant and active sex life can be a priority.
Key need: To tap into self-confidence.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 1 Life Path, obstacles reside in lack of self-esteem resulting in choosing partners who aren’t “equals.” While you thrive with a bit of cheerleading from a partner, there is a balance to be had between healthy support and codependence. Sometimes your sexual style focuses on you and your performance rather than on establishing an emotional connection with a partner.
2 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 2 Life Path, you’re loving, giving, and devoted. In the bedroom, you’re intuitively connected with your partner and instinctively feel their desires and needs. You often merge with your partner and can place their needs above your own. You might be a bit “shy” or reserved until you feel fully received, desired, and engulfed by your partners love. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a wild streak—it’s just usually you have to develop an overall trust in your partner before you can fully let go. If ever there was a loyal, giving, and willing sexual partner, it’s you. You can be the master or mistress of giving pleasure to your partner. You derive ultimate satisfaction when you learn how to receive and how to articulate what you want sexually.
Key need: To love and be loved in return.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 2 Life Path, obstacles reside in losing yourself in sexual relationships resulting in dissatisfaction because you don’t know “who you are” and neither does your partner. When hurt, you can withdraw emotionally and sexually.
11/2 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 11/2 Life Path, you’re loving, giving, and devoted—and then you can have a level of assertion and of taking the lead that can surprise you. In the bedroom, you’re the “I want you to want me” lover, needing admiration and unabashed depth of devotion. Yet this can also translate as a need for variety and an assortment of sexual “identities.” The Master number 11/2 brings a need for deep relationship and yet the double 1’s bring a bit of a conflict to that desire. So you might be somewhat enigmatic in the bedroom—needing to be dominant and in control one day and then submissive and “pleasing” the next.
Key need: To be acknowledged and appreciated for how special you are.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 11/2 Life Path, obstacles reside in the conflict between wanting to settle down with “the one” and needing to traverse your own path. You can sabotage sexual relationships by getting bored easily or by opting for the spotlight rather than “settling down.” You can present as loving—with an edge.
3 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 3 Life Path, you’re upbeat, witty, and communicative. In the bedroom, you can be dynamic, passionate, and creative—and you want sex to be a creative exploration into the pleasure of your senses and a delving into the crevices of your emotions. You want nothing more than to please your partner as long as you feel that heightened desire is reciprocated equally. Your lovemaking tends to be playful when you feel a deep connection with your lover. If there’s anyone who might be up for some role-play or something just a little off the beaten path, it’s you. You need to be heard, treasured, and acknowledged for your exceptional sexual attractiveness and your ability to “read” and satisfy your partner.
Key need: To be “heard” and emotionally supported.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 3 Life Path, obstacles reside in communication. Since you’re learning all about communication, this translates into your sex life as well as your life overall. You can “sext” your partner all day long readying for a lusty interlude and yet if they say or do one “wrong” thing, all bets are off. Forget it. Your elusive emotional needs can confound your partner.
4 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 4 Life Path, you’re solid, loyal, and accessible. In the bedroom, you tend toward tactile yet practical. Yours is a very “earthy” vibe. You’re a very “sexual” person, wanting and needing a certain amount of sexual engagement in order to feel balanced. Usually you’re a no-nonsense lover and yet you know the ropes. You can be masterful with technique and developing certain positions or situations that turn you on, although you might need a partner who’s a bit more experimental to open your eyes to trying new things and exploring new experiences. Or be happy to have a partner who loves a sense of routine and finds satisfaction with a certain predictable yet satisfying sexual protocol.
Key need: To feel safe and secure.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 4 Life Path, obstacles reside in an inability to settle down and put down roots. Sexually this can present as bed hopping and a fear of emotional connection. You can get into a sexual rut.
22/4 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 22/4 Life Path, you’re devoted, giving, and practical. In the bedroom, you tend toward monogamy—or serial monogamy. At your core, you want something predictable and satisfying, yet you’re usually not one for the promise of fads or kinky practices. Your biggest turn-on is your partner having the house clean, making a romantic meal (and cleaning the dishes in the morning!) and having a throw-down on a comfortable bed. Your “slow and steady” tendency in life can translate to electric sex for you and your partner. You’re always willing to learn. The Master number 22/4 brings a need for deep relationship and the double 2’s brings intensity to that desire. Your 4 wants practicality and control while the 2 wants to please and give.
Key need: Safety and security mixed with a partner who can support your endeavors.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 22/4 Life Path, obstacles reside in choosing career or work over relationships. This translates sexually either as keeping sexual encounters at arms length or keeping them in a “safe zone” where you aren’t forced into advancing levels of commitment.
5 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 5 Life Path, you’re fearless, adventurous, and versatile. In the bedroom, you have the same attributes! If there’s anyone built for a rich and adventurous sex life, it’s you. You want to explore it all, feel it all, and revel in the sensual nature of your mind, body, and soul. More than most Life Path numbers, as a 5 you come into your sexuality hot-and-heavy. Mostly likely you’ll have more than your share of sexual partners and sexual experiences. You attract amazing variety in terms of partners, practices, and levels of engagement. Often you’re the one whose up for anything—if you like it, you’ll want more. If you don’t, you’ll move on. Because practice makes perfect, you have a tendency to develop into a skilled and desirable lover.
Key need: To experience every morsel of sensual pleasure the world has to offer.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 5 Life Path, obstacles reside in over-indulgence, excess, and escape. Or alternately, you experience overriding fear around your sexual expression and opt instead for restricting yourself in this area of your life.
6 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 6 Life Path, you’re responsible, family-oriented, and magnetic. In the bedroom, you’re the “cosmic parent” and desire a certain level of perfection with sexual expression. You have high standards for yourself and for your partner, which can translate into exquisite mastery of romantic love. You pay attention to the details—the perfect choice of music, placement of candles, the beautiful bottle of wine. When you have the desire to hone your sexual magnetism, you can be a (male or female) Casanova. You’re often creative and physically attractive, only adding to your sex appeal. You crave a deep sense of connection with yourself and with your partner. Even while you may have a certain level of shyness or reserve initially—once engaged with a partner you connect with—sex toys and other forms of sexual engagement aren’t out of the picture.
Key need: To find your soul mate.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 6 Life Path, obstacles reside in placing your partner on a pedestal and then becoming increasingly dissatisfied when they’re imperfections are revealed. You can default to controlling and judgment, placing a wedge in your sex life.
7 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 7 Life Path, you’re mysterious, analytical, and a deep thinker. In the bedroom, you’re often unpredictable and super-sexy. It’s as though you’re withholding the key to your soul and your lover wants to pry that key out of your hands and have access to the depths of your heart. Since you’re learning to connect with your emotions, often your lovemaking can start on a more “head-based” level where you excel at researching (either by actual research or by “researching” your intimate partner in conversation and experientially) how to best give and receive sexual pleasure. As you mature and find a level of trust within yourself and with a sexual partner, there is no limit to the depths of your sexual allure and deep sexual satisfaction.
Key need: To trust your partner and yourself.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 7 Life Path, obstacles reside in kind of wanting a relationship and kind of not wanting a relationship, resulting in mixed messages to your lover. The 7 is the spiritual seeker and can often find themselves alone for certain phases of time in their lives—not as a punishment, as a choice.
8 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 8 Life Path, you’re powerful, opinionated, and successful. In the bedroom, you’re often “large and in charge.” As an 8 Life Path, sex correlates with power and you’re learning all about power—how to develop it, assert it effectively, and reap the benefits from your involvement with it. You prefer attractive partners who compliment you and your presentation of yourself in the world. You’re highly dynamic and sexually driven. As a lover, you’ll spare no expense in treating your love interest with an intense level of desire and appreciation. You can be a risk-taker and be open to the kinkier side of sexual experience. Since control and authority are also cornerstones for the 8 Life Path, those elements can play out in the bedroom. You can also be more of the “pillar of the community” and have a more conservative relationship with your sexuality. Either way, you’re a powerhouse in the bedroom.
Key need: To be respected and admired.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 8 Life Path, obstacles reside in defaulting into treating relationships in a businesslike fashion rather than softening and engaging in emotional connection. You might choose sexual relationships based on gaining status or furthering your “place” in the world. On the other end, you can struggle with empowering yourself and your sex life reflects this level of disempowerment.
9 Life Path
If you’re in your groove with the optimal elements of your 9 Life Path, you’re compassionate, giving, and creative. In the bedroom, there isn’t anyone more innately romantic than the 9 Life Path. Your goal is to overwhelm your partner with pleasure and you’ll do anything within your power to be known as Prince or Princess Charming. Charismatic and sometimes enigmatic, you’re often unpredictable and more than open to various sexual techniques. Toys, watching erotic videos together, going to a nude beach—you’re down for this and much more. You want to know exactly what you’re partner wants and benefit when you actually come out and ask. Even though you’re a giver and will postpone your own satisfaction for your partners benefit, ultimately you make sure your needs are also met.
Key need: To satisfy your partner—and gain love and admiration for it.
The opposition: When not stepping fully into your 9 Life Path, obstacles reside in becoming a “rebel without a cause.” The 9 is learning how to give and receive—often the 9 can become an enabler in relationship, resulting in tense or unhealthy sexual dynamics.
Always remember that you’re sex style isn’t solely defined by your Life Path number—your personality profile consists of several other numerological influences. So for instance, if you happen to have a 5 Life Path yet the other influences in your chart are 2’s and 4’s, you’ll most likely experience tendencies most related to the 2’s and 4’s—even though you’re learning about and evolving into the 5. It always pays to dig a little deeper and see how you personally engage with all the numbers represented in your chart in order to understand certain elements of your personal sexual style so you can enhance and act upon what ultimately gives you—and your partner— satisfaction and pleasure.
