PinThe structures which make up our societies are like the bones that hold us all together.

The skeleton.

The architecture.

Which can be beautiful, artful: poems made manifest, the pinnacle of human design. Or it can be cold, brutal, prison-like, deadening.  Its walls have the power to shape us into better humans: to inspire our actions through the spaces we get to act inside of. Or they can oppress us, minimizing hope and openness and freedom.

These structures, in their energetic form, are a network which runs through every level and every moment of our lives. From the first breath taken by the baby born in a hospital bed, to the way children are trained to process their thoughts in school, to the holiday you work so hard to enjoy once a year… The structures on which your life functions, are based on pre-designed and pre-fixed systems, designed for the most part by other humans.  If these humans were masters, skilled craftsmen and women, whose foundational beliefs and motivations had the highest good of all at their center, then their creations are likely to have integrity. The systems they created and the structures, the architecture they formed around you and for you, is likely to be serving you.

But if not … what then?

This Full Moon falls at 6º of Capricorn, exact at 21:52 PT on the 27th June/05:52 BST on the 28th

Capricorn oversees structure.

Its energy weaves the skeletal systems of ‘civilized’ life, that create our human societies. It rules systems of governance, finance and social responsibility.  It reaches far into the future, concerned with long-term goals and legacy, and encourages hard and meticulous work to ensure we get there. A Full Moon in this sign illuminates all of these things, both constructed and innate: where you are supported and where you are not. Where the system has integrity and where it’s lacking. Where the system oppresses you and where it serves others; where the system serves you and oppresses somebody else…

Full Moon: Illuminating Hierarchy

Now is the time to examine these structures.

This Full Moon comes to shine a spotlight on to the places in your life where you are bound, restricted and limited, by the way that life is organized around you. It will also shine a spotlight on to the places in your life where you are binding, restricting and limiting others. It will offer the opportunity to address areas of rigidity, rank and hierarchy, and will do this by exposing them and bringing them up and out of the shadows. Full Moons illuminate what has previously gone unseen, so expect your eyes to be opened wide. Expect to be challenged, to be asked to step beyond the confines of pre-programmed expectation and habitual response, as the unfairness, imbalance and injustice caused by the systems we live within,  is exposed.

Expect to be revealed as the victim, or as the perpetrator.

Moon Conjunct Saturn: Defenses going UP

Whatever patterns emerge during this Full Moon, it is vital not to cast judgement.  In this game of life, which circulates and repeats in spirals until breakthroughs are made, we have all played both roles hundreds and hundreds of times.  It’s not our job to judge whoever is playing our opposite this time around, it’s our job to use compassion to work through the dynamic we currently face.

Saturn, Capricorn’s ruling planet, is conjuct the Moon at this lunation which means that when we do feel challenged, we may instinctively defend and try to guard ourselves and our positions.  This is a protective mechanism, and with the opposing Sun currently in Cancer, that hard shell is poised and ready to rise up as armor, guarding the tenderness that lies within.

But you must resist this urge to build another barrier.

Do not reinforce the “us” and “them” mentality, instead, use this Full Moon to dissolve it.  The way to do this is to take responsibility for what you see around you, whether or not you believe any fault falls with you.  This difference between fault and responsibility is misunderstood, but highly relevant during this Capricorn Full Moon, as these are the themes which infuse this sign, and these are the lessons we must learn from it.

Capricorn: Cardinal Earth inspires Grounded Action

Whose “fault” any situation is, ceases to be of any importance at all, when you see how this only serves to further separate us.  Responsibility on the other hand, belongs to everybody and becomes a powerful method for moving forward together.

As a cardinal Earth sign, Capricorn jolts us into action. It gives the ignition spark, but unlike fire sign Aries, Capricorn is rooted in the Earth so that our actions make real, material gains.  This sign encourages us to DO. To make a physical, actual, embodied change.

Capricorn moves us to what our duty is, to what it really is, beyond the societal demands and structures and systems which surround us.  So when all of these are broken down and dissolved around us – which is happening all around you, with or without your conscious participation – what is left?

Capricorn invites us to re-make our own.

Not to negate the importance and function of societal structures and systems, but to combine them with our true duty and purpose as humans, so that the architecture we create, IS beautiful, artful and poetic.  This is the legacy that Capricorn wants us, and has designed us, to leave, and this is the legacy to call in at this Full Moon.
