Crystals embrace qualities that can be used to manifest your heart’s desires. The good thing is there are lots of wonderful ways to bring their energy into your life. You can hold or meditate with a crystal to take advantage of its energy, or pop one in your pocket, under your pillow or even wear jewelry made of specific crystal combinations.

One fun and powerful technique is to create a Crystal Grid, a pattern made up of a number of crystals that are empowered with a specific intention.

Setting Up Your Sacred Grid

Another grid small 2PinThe patterns used are often taken from Sacred Geometrical shapes, but it isn’t a requirement for a grid to be successful.  Grids are essentially power maps of universal energy that are set up to connect and charge points. So your map might use a shape from sacred geometry, or a symbol that resonates with you like the infinity sign or a heart, or they can be set up to connect corners of a room or area.

I feel it is good to use a pattern for your grid that resonates with the essence of the stones and with the intention you set. Use your intuition to find out what your “right way of setting it up” is and then go with that. I’ll just give you some guidelines.

Many people like to use the flower of life symbol – a 6-pointed flower Grid – 6 is also a good number for our purpose as it links with Aphrodite/Venus the Goddess of Love. So, in this case we’re going to use 6 points around a large central crystal!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. A piece of paper to write your intention on – I have used pink paper with red and pink pens, colors of love. I’ve also cut my paper into a heart shape.
  2. Pink crystals such as Rose Quartz, Morganite, Pink Tourmaline, Kunzite, Danburite, Rhodochrosite, etc.
  3. Clear Quartz points for the grid and an extra one to charge the grid.
  4. A space to put your grid where it won’t be disturbed preferably in a place that is clean and clear of clutter. Think of your grid as an expression of your energy. You want it to look and feel good and you want your message to be loud and clear. If there is other stuff around it then the message could become garbled. So treat your grid with love and create it in place that is filled with love.
  5. Extras – a nice cloth (maybe a pink one) for under your grid just so it looks and feels special. Natural fibers are best. Add flowers and objects of love for added love mojo.

1. PREPARING YOUR CRYSTALS

Cleansing Your Crystals

As with any crystal work, before you set out to make your grid each crystal needs to be cleansed.  I like to use running water and intention to cleanse my crystals. Not all crystal chemistry is suitable to place in running water, but the quartz, morganite and tourmaline are.

Charging Your Crystals

Once you’ve cleansed your crystals you can either hold them as a group or hold them one by one to infuse with the energy of your intention. This is called “Programming” your crystals. You’re often told to hold a crystal in your “dominant” hand to do this. Traditionally that would be the hand you write with, but here’s my secret way to find your dominant hand.

Place your hands with palms opposite each other and then interlace your fingers bringing your thumbs to rest on top. Whichever thumb lands on top belongs to your dominant hand. My left hand thumb usually goes on top and yet I am right handed. So for programming and healing I use my left hand because to me this is my “giving” hand – it gives instructions and energy. Just so you know, I call this exercise my “rule of thumb!”

PROGRAMMING YOUR CRYSTALS

Programming the crystal small 2Pin

Programming your crystals is really just letting them and the universe know what you want from your grid. Everything is energy so your thought directs the action of the energy. I like to program my smaller crystals together and then set up the outside of my grid. I sit for a while longer with the larger central one – this is called the Focus Crystal – so that it truly reflects my heart. I think of the grid like a wheel and the central crystal is the hub. It holds everything together. So my relationship with this one is at the core of how well my grid will work for me.

Once I’ve made my connection I ask it if it is ready to go into the grid. If it says yes, great, I can then place it at the heart. If it says no, then I need to find out what else I have to do. If you’re connected then you can ask the crystal and you will receive the answer in one go, but this doesn’t work for everyone. So you can ask it a series of questions, things you might feel it needs such as – do I need to hold you for longer, do you need to be cleansed again, does the grid need to be set up differently, does it need to be in a different place, is it the wrong time to set up the grid, etc., and then go with what feels right.

2. SETTING UP YOUR GRID

I set up two grids using different numbers of crystals. Use your intuition to get a sense of which grid feels right for you, the one with less or more crystals. Neither is right or wrong, the pattern of a grid is a personal thing. When I set each one up I feel different levels of energy coming from the grids – this was before I energized it (that’s another step). Notice on both grids the position of the clear quartz crystal points. Each one is pointing inwards, the rose quartz hearts too. Energy is moving toward the central stone with the points facing the center in this case love is coming in. You can point your crystals outward if your intention is to send energy or love out.

Once you have the outside of your grid set up then it’s time to place your Focus Crystal at the heart. Position it in a way that feels right. For the most part grids are created with everything in balance, so again imagine a wheel. If one of your crystals is outside the lines of the wheel then the grid is potentially out of balance.

3. ADDING AFFIRMATIONS & INTENTIONS

You can place a photo or card under your central crystal with your intention and affirmations written on it to add to the energy of your grid. I made a heart shape of pink paper – pink for love – and then wrote three affirmations to empower the energy of my grid intention. Three is the number of Jupiter the planet of abundance. You can also use pink pen to write your intentions if pink paper isn’t available or double dip and do both.

I signed my card, it felt right to do so and by adding my name to the vibration of my crystal grid it feels like I am sealing the deal! The heart shape is a powerful symbol of love. If you were creating a money grid you could write your affirmations on a check or create a coin shape then write in gold or green, both colors of manifestation. You could also place money under the Focus Crystal to draw in abundance.

4. CHARGING YOUR GRID

Some grids like to be set up with a charging crystal. This means that you would have an additional crystal point larger than the small crystals in your grid but not necessarily larger than your central crystal. The charging crystal then charges each part of your grid. So it’s like you’re turning on a switch in each crystal as you follow the grid pattern awakening the connections between each piece.

If you choose to do this you’ll need to cleanse and program your charging crystal for the work. Then begin at the core or focus crystal and imagine you’re drawing an image of a pie that’s been cut into slices. Move clockwise around your grid to draw energy in and counter clockwise to move energy out. Start by holding your charging crystal over the focus crystal then draw an imaginary line outward as if you were cutting or outlining a piece of pie. Go back and forth into the center and then outward retracing your lines until you come back to the place where you started to complete the circuit. There is no right or wrong way of doing this, it’s all about connecting the crystals to each other and creating a circuit of energy.

5. GRID MAINTENANCE

OK, so you have your grid set up, what next? Leave the grid in place for at least 24 hours. Some people like to keep a grid in place for 40 days, use your intuition as to the length of time that is good for you. You can take into account the positions of the heavenly bodies, so make your grid when the moon is waxing – from new to full – this can enhance its impact. You can wait until Venus is direct before setting your grid up or if you might intuitively feel this energy will be beneficial. Why not try it and see what happens.

Re-charge your grid every 24 hours. You can do this by just sitting with it, meditating with it, placing your hands over the grid like you are warming them on a fire just to connect, or use your charging crystal to trace the pies.

I asked my guides how long a love grid should be set up. The answer came back as indefinitely provided the energy of the grid is cared for and the crystals remain clean. As you’ll be tuning into your grid on a daily basis you will know when it needs to be cleansed and re-energized.

One final thing here, remember to thank your crystals and the energy of the grid. Crystals love to be thanked and your attitude of gratitude can only add to the success of your grid!
