PinNumbers can be quite important when we are ready to understand our own personal astrology—and discover turning point events.

The signs and planets will always be the main characters in our astrology stories— but the degree they live in means a lot too. Each degree of the zodiac is important in its own right but there are certain numbers that are more significant than others. For the here and now, I’d like to tell you more about what I think of as the most special number that I see — the 29th degree. Its power is unprecedented and always delivers results in getting to the bottom of things.

In order to understand what I mean by that, let me break it down in an easy to understand format. When we were born, each of the planets lived in a particular sign and degree. Using our birthday, exact birth time and location of our birth we can see precisely which degree each of our planets was living in at the time of our birth.

There are 30 degrees in each sign which gives us planetary placements ranging from 0 all the way up to 29 and change. Technically speaking the last degree point of each sign is really 29 degrees and 59 seconds. We never really get to the 30th degree because once we get there we really enter the next sign (which begins at 0 degrees).

The Magic 29

From an Astrological perspective, the last degree of each sign (or the 29th degree) is very powerful. In my own personal work, I call any placement in the last degree my Magic 29. The reason for that is because it’s a number that signifies major transitions. It reveals that a turning point is on the horizon and things are about to change—because literally the sign is about to.

Degree placements are found in many places in our own astrology. We find all of these special numbers embedded all throughout our natal charts, which is the picture that the planets created for us at the moment we were born. If we discover a planet or important angle (Ascendant (1st house cusp), IC (4th house cusp), Descendant (7th house cusp) or Midheaven (10th house cusp) living in the powerful 29th degree it’s always a special marker.

How the 29th Degree Plays Out In Your Natal Chart

In my research and work with clients, I have seen the 29th degree in a Natal Chart showcase an important life time. There are always a lot of turning points as well as distinguishable endings that come through for people with these placements. A theory I have is that it equates to our soul’s evolution (if we are believers in past lives as I am) and important turning points of our soul’s development.

We could theorize that these powerful 29’s represent bringing over lots of things from our past lifetimes (karmic baggage per say). The current life time is presenting opportunities to work through this karma and become a stepping stone into a bigger part of their soul’s evolution. It’s pretty intense as well as special from a broad point of view.

The honest truth, however, is that despite our natal degree placements each of us experiences the power of 29 many times throughout our lives. We don’t need one living in our natal chart in order to experience change and turning points. Some of my favorite places to discover the power of 29 are in Progressions, Solar Returns and the Transits (or regular movements of the planets).

Progressions, involve “fast forwarding” our natal picture to the moment we’re currently in are extremely powerful in their own right. Progressions showcase phases we’re going through which are incredibly important in the big picture. When we discover the number 29 living in our progressions it’s a sign that a phase is ending in order for a new one to begin.

I love using progressions for predictive purposes as well as determining where a person is in their current outlook on life.
Progressions are essential in understanding our personal current climate and influences. Whenever I look at anyone’s chart in order to gain some insight into their future, I dive into the progressions pretty quickly. I quickly scan the planets and their placements and when I find that powerful 29 a big ringer goes off in my mind. This happens because it always reveals a turning point is in motion. Keep in mind that turning points are not always event driven — they can be emotional as well as psychological.

Our Solar Returns happen once a year and it’s what most of us refer to as our birthday. From an astrological stand point, our Solar Return is the moment the transiting (or moving) Sun returns to the very spot he was in when we were born. This return casts a very special moment in time and creates an important picture of the year ahead. If we were to discover a 29 somewhere in our Solar Return picture, we could easily surmise a turning point year was ahead.

Finally the transits themselves showcase turning points. The planets are always moving and each time one of them goes into a sign’s last degree (#29) turning points come into the forefront.

When Planets Go Into the 29th Degree

Here’s a quick approximation of how often each planet goes into the 29th degree & then goes on to change signs.

Moon: Every 2.5 days or so
Sun, Mercury & Venus : Once a month
Mars: Every 6-7 weeks
Jupiter: Once a year
Saturn: 2.5-3 years
Uranus: 7 years
Neptune: 14 years
Pluto: 20 years

Turning points can signify many things. A new road may open up or an old one closes. New relationships may be getting ready to begin or old ones needing to end. These transitions can also change our entire awareness and perception. They have the potential to change who we are as well as what we believe and care about. If we’ve ever made some radical moves in our lives (and we all have at some point or another) I bet the powerful 29 was involved.

No matter how we decide to look at it, the timing will be different for each of us when it comes to finding the very special 29 in our own lives. The truth behind all of this is that many of us intrinsically know when big changes are on the horizon. Some of us get excited about it, while others aren’t so eager to embrace a shift. At the end of the day, however, most of us want to move on and up in order to experience new things. It’s the powerful 29 that can prove that changes and shifts are indeed on the horizon.
